All Daterra Farms coffees have been in possession of Rainforest Alliance certification since 2003, which means coffee is grown on farms where forests, rivers and soils are protected, wildlife is conserved; workers are paid decent wages and given access to medical care and education.
The farm was founded in 1973 by Luis Pascoal, initially the farm experimented with fruit and cattle farming, but Luis fell in love with coffee and all other endeavours eventually fell to the wayside.
The Cerrado Mineiro Region is a world recognized high quality coffee producing origin - the first “Designation of Origin” in Brazil and akin to 'Champagne' for sparkling wines.
